Mag 256 audio drops when changing channels

Postby seadooxp » 31 Jan 2017, 23:59

Using HDMI with latest posted firmware
Audio is fine but drops when changing channel few times.
The only way to get it back is to hard reset (Unplug and plug back in)

I have the same problem, sound disappear from time to time when changeing channels. I also have issues sometimes to activiate to Mag when it has been sitting idle over night.
Sometimes I have to pull the plug and do hard reboot several times per day!
It really sucks!!!

Hey, I am also having this problem. It is really frustrating. Still no way to solve this problem other than hard resetting the box repeatedly?

You are all guys facing same problem. I think you should need to go your services providers where you did buy this.

Hello there

Same problem here ! When changing channels, sound drops.

The only way to get sound back is to electrically unplug my MAG 256, restarting the portal or rebooting the device is of no help.

I have contacted infomir support about it but they said it was a problem that needed communication with my iptv provider :
(below message from Infomir support)

On this issue, you should contact the service provider and discuss it with him

If your IPTV service provider can not solve the problem on your own, they can contact us to solve the problem

Unfortunately, we can not help you, because we need technical information that only your provider can provide.

This was a solution found from Infomir support, it seems to have solved the sound issue...

1.Check the sound settings following the instructions below. The settings should be the same as in our message.
Go to the main menu of the internal portal, open the "settings", after 'system settings" and check the "Audio" section and after the "Video".
All the values should be exactly as we wrote to you below, then there should be no problems with the sound. If in any line, you see another value, change it the same like you see in our message.

Audio
Intital Volume-100
Audio output mode-stereo
F1press red
Operating mode-RF mode
SPDIF Mode-Bitstream
HDMI Audio-PCM

Video
Vide output mode-
Graphic resolution-
Vide output mode and Graphic resolution. These lines must match the cable you connected the box RCA or HDMI and the video resolution that supports your TV.

press F1 red

Auto frame rate-Disabled
HDMI/DVI-HDMI

2. You can also try resetting the factory settings and update the box again. Before doing a reset, save all the necessary information for you, after factory resetting, the portals and playlists are deleted, this will need to be added again.

How to reset the settings to the factory and update the box you can find on our website.

EDIT: Auto frame rate-Disabled did NOT solve issue.

I wouldn't say that the problem is completely solved as it is not a solution to lose a function (Auto frame rate) to help solve another issue...

@Jay
I did exactly the steps shown, and I am still getting audio issues. Audio will either be garbled or lost completely after changing channels. I am running firmware 2.20.04 (the latest as of this writing.)

Most of the channels that I am streaming seem to be AAC.

@Infomir

When can we expect a firmware update (2.20.05?). The 256 seems like it has a lot of potential, if this minor sound issue could be solved.

I am more than happy to alpha/beta test if needed.

I am really annoyed about support that have been ignoring my queries and not fixing the obvious issue.
Different IPTV providers I've had have confirmed that lots of people are having sound issues with MAG/Infomir...

The result is that I paid a device that is not usable as is and useless. I will push hard to get the device refunded either by infomir or send it back to the shop I've ordered it to and go for another brand that has been recommended to me.

It is alright to have issues but unacceptable to now not hear back from support after so many months. :x

I have contacted support page and have been a while ago provided with options to disable within MAG as described above.
Didn't work.
Next step was to reinstall firmware via usb.
Didn't help either.

I have come back to online support and haven't heard back from them since March 2018.

Maybe they don't answer on the sound issue anymore as they have no fix...as of today, still no news after 2 months

It seems you also have the sound dropping issue when changing channels, what is the latest answer you've had from support ?
