MAG 256 - HDMI problem?

I have sent a couple of support requests but haven't heard yet so hopefully someone here can advise.

A couple of days ago my screen started to flicker when using the MAG. It reminds me of an analogue aerial that isn't connected probably and on occasions you would get a crackling sound as well.

It happens on both the portal and when playing media so it is not my IPTV sub.

I have swapped out HDMI cable and tries the other port on my TV.

I have a BT TV box that works using the same cable and on both HDMI ports so that rules out the cable and the TV.

I bought a RCA cable, and as my TV doesn't have RCA I got a RCA to SCART connector but when I try to hook it up nothing appears on the screen.

Does it sound like a HDMI problem and can anyone help with getting the RCA up and running?
