Hi guys,
I am having a problem connecting my Mag 250 to a community wifi system. Let me explain:
I live on a large caravan/camping site. Wifi is provided centrally, and we get free low-speed WIFI. For around €1 a day they provide a VIP wifi signal which is much faster (17Mbps), that appears to be unlocked, but it only gets you to a welcome/access page.
I have a Mag 250 box with wifi dongle/antenna connected to the USB port at the back of the box.
I go to the settings menu, then select Network, Wireless (WIFI), then Auto DHCP. I then enter the network name of the VIP service, and I am in.
However, when I reboot the Mag 250 it loads up in the normal way, but when it gets to Loading Portal up pops the welcome/access page (generated by the community) asking for my User Name and Password to enter the VIP service.
Now, when you pay for the VIP service they print off for you the User name and Password to enter on the landing/welcome/access page, and on a mobile phone this works fine, you just open a browser, up pops the welcome/access page (you have probably seen this in hotel wifi systems) tap the User Name box and enter the name they give you, then tap on the Password box and enter the password provided, and only then do you get actual connection to the internet.
The problem is, I can find no way of entering the User name and Password on this welcome/landing page in the Mag 250
I have a wireless mouse and keyboard connected to the Mag 250 via a dongle in the front USB port, and these work for entering text in all the normal Mag 250 settings pages where user selections can be made (such as Portal Name, etc). BUT it does not work for the welcome/access page described above.
Just to be clear, on my mobile phone after I have selected the network from the community in the WIFI settings and then open a browser instead of getting my Home Page (which I have set to Google) I get a welcome/access page which says:
Welcome to the Sunny Vistas VIP Wifi System, please enter your User Name and Password in the boxes below then press Proceed.
I get the same page on the Mag 250 when it boots up to the Loading Portal section.
I can get my wireless mouse pointer in the first User Name box and click, but it doesn’t appear to give focus to the User Name box and typing on the wireless keyboard produces nothing. I have tried highlighting the User Name box using Ctrl-Tab on the keyboard, but this has no effect either.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to enter text in these kind of welcome/access pages?
