If you have a MAG540/MAG544 and the firmware requires updating, you will get the following message when connecting to an external portal: “Firmware of your STB is outdated. Please update it” or “The software of the service provider is not compatible with your box. Please contact your IPTV/OTT operator to solve this issue”.
What you need to do
In the latest firmware versions of your MAG540/MAG544, an option allowing you to log into the portal of an older version has been added. To connect to the desired portal, you need to do the following:
- Go to the “Settings“ menu on your set-top box.
- In the “System settings“ section, select the “Servers“ tab and then “Portals“.
- In the “Compatible model“ section, starting with the latest model (MAG420), select the relevant set-top box model and connect to the portal.
If after choosing the latest model (MAG420) you still get the above message and you cannot connect to the portal, follow the steps below:
- Choose an earlier model, such as MAG322, and try to connect again.
- If you still have trouble, try an even earlier model, such as MAG254 and try connecting again.
This approach allows you to adapt the set-top box to the requirements of the portal and choose the most suitable model for successful connection.
If your MAG540/MAG544 set-top box menu has no “Compatible model” item:
Update the device firmware to the latest available version. This option is available starting at the 2.20.05 STB firmware version or newer. You can perform the update by following the instructions below.
To configure the firmware autoupdate:
- Open the “Settings” menu and go to the “Software autoupdate” tab.
- Find the “Autoupdate” section and select it.
- Specify the “Enabled” option. The set-top box will automatically check if the new firmware version is available on the server and update if it is.
- After the update, the Software Autoupdate window is displayed on the screen, where current and new firmware versions as well as the update status will be indicated.
If you prefer to update with confirmation, choose the “With confirmation” option. Using this option, when the new firmware version is available, the informational message will appear on the screen and you will be able to confirm the update manually.
Alternatively, you can use the F2 button on the remote control to start the update manually.
Note that you can also access detailed documentation on the autoupdate procedure on the official wiki.
